How Velin AI Stays Undetectable: The Six Surfaces That Can Expose You

A lot of tools claim to be invisible. Most of them mean: "we hope no one looks too closely."
Velin AI is different. Invisibility isn't a feature that was bolted on — it's a core engineering requirement that shaped every design decision from the beginning. If any part of the app could expose you during an interview, it was a problem that had to be solved, not accepted.
Here's what can expose you, surface by surface, and what answers each one.
Why "Invisible" Has to Mean More Than Just Hidden
A live interview puts you under multiple simultaneous layers of scrutiny:
- Your interviewer is watching your video feed
- Screen-sharing software is capturing everything on your display
- The interview platform may be watching for focus changes or tab switches
- Some proctoring tools monitor cursor behavior and active windows
- In certain situations, you may be asked to show your Activity Monitor or Task Manager
- The assessment platform itself may be logging what you type
That's six separate surfaces, and they fail independently. A tool can be genuinely invisible in a recording and obvious in a process list — "invisible on screen share" covers the first one and leaves five open. That's the single most common gap in this category.

Surface 1: The Screen Capture

When you share your entire screen — even with the interviewer watching live — Velin AI does not appear in the shared view. They see your desktop, your browser, your code editor. They do not see Velin.
This is the most critical feature for coding interviews. When you're required to share your screen while solving a problem, you can run Velin open right alongside your editor. The interviewer sees your screen normally — Velin is simply not there in their view.
You can move the Velin window anywhere on your screen while sharing. Click Analyze Screen and Velin reads the coding problem on your display, generates a step-by-step solution with formatted code, and you copy it directly into your editor — all while your full screen remains visible to the interviewer.
Velin has been tested and confirmed invisible on all major video conferencing and screen sharing platforms.
Zoom Users: In Zoom, make sure the "Advanced Capture with Window Filtering" option is enabled in your advanced screen share settings. This tells Zoom to respect the OS-level window exclusion that Velin uses. Without this setting enabled, Zoom may override the exclusion and show Velin in the shared view. If you're not sure how to find this, check Zoom's screen share settings before your interview — not during it.
Surface 2: The Dock, Menu Bar and Task View

Velin's icon does not appear in your macOS dock or Windows taskbar while the app is running. There is no status bar title change when you interact with it. In Mission Control on Mac and Task View on Windows, Velin is also absent from the list of open applications.
Even if your interviewer asks you to show your taskbar or glances at your dock during a screen share, Velin will not be visible.
macOS troubleshooting: If the Velin icon is still showing in your dock, go to System Settings → Dock and turn off "Show suggested and recent apps." Restart the app and the icon will disappear. Alternatively, right-click the icon in the dock and select "Remove from Dock" — the app will continue running without displaying the icon.
Surface 3: The Process List
Feature Spotlight: Activity Monitor Stealth
If an interviewer asks you to open Activity Monitor (macOS) or Task Manager (Windows) during your interview, Velin will not appear under its real name. The process runs under the name V Module with a blurred, non-distinctive icon — effectively anonymous in any process list.
This is the purpose of the V Module rename. "Velin AI" does not appear anywhere in your system process list. Even if someone scrolls through every running process and sees V Module, the blurred icon and generic name give nothing away.

Surface 4: Focus and Tab Tracking

Some online test platforms and proctoring tools monitor focus changes — they detect and notify the proctor whenever you click away from the exam window. Interacting with Velin AI does not trigger these alerts.
Velin is designed to never become the active window in the way that other applications do. When you switch to Velin to read an answer or scroll through a response, the platform you were using does not register a focus change event. You won't be flagged for looking away.
This is one of the technically demanding features to get right, and it's part of why Velin is a native desktop application — not a browser extension or web-based overlay, both of which are far easier for proctoring tools to detect.
Surface 5: The Cursor

Velin is built as a click-through application. Your mouse cursor passes through the Velin interface as if it is not there. More importantly: your cursor shape does not change when it moves over Velin's buttons, text, or interface elements.
Why does this matter? Screen recording tools and interview platforms often capture cursor movements and cursor shape. If your cursor suddenly changed to a text cursor or resize arrow over an invisible overlay, it could raise questions. With Velin, the cursor behaves exactly as it would anywhere else on your desktop — no visual change whatsoever.
You can click buttons, scroll responses, type in notes, and change settings inside Velin without the cursor ever behaving differently.
When you're typing in another app — your code editor, a browser text field, an exam response box — Velin does not steal the text cursor. You can switch between Velin and your other apps without a cursor jump anyone could notice.
Surface 6: Your Own Input
The five above are about the app. This one is about you — and it's the surface most tools ignore entirely.
Feature Spotlight: Mouse Gestures
Draw a shape with your mouse and it triggers an action. Nothing is typed, so a platform logging keystrokes has nothing to record — and a moving cursor is the least remarkable thing on any computer.
Every action in Velin can also be driven by keyboard shortcut, and for most situations that's fine. The one to memorise is Cmd+B (macOS) / Ctrl+B (Windows), which hides Velin instantly — one keypress, no window animation. View the full list from the Settings tab, or press Cmd+Alt+G at any time.
But keyboard input is still input. If an assessment platform logs keystrokes, a burst of shortcuts during a hard question is a pattern in a log file. Gestures leave nothing to log, which is why they exist. No other tool in this category offers them.
Use whichever fits the situation. Keyboard is faster once it's muscle memory; gestures are the one that survives keystroke monitoring.
Before Your Interview: Test Everything
The best thing you can do is run a dry test before your real interview. It takes 10 minutes and eliminates all uncertainty.
Checklist:
- Open Velin and start a live session
- Join a test video call from a second account (Zoom, Meet, Teams — whichever you'll use)
- Share your full screen from the second account and confirm Velin is not visible in the shared view
- Check your dock and taskbar — Velin's icon should not appear
- Open Activity Monitor or Task Manager and confirm only V Module appears (not "Velin AI")
- Practice the essential shortcuts, especially Cmd+B to hide and the shortcut to trigger screen analysis
- If you're using Zoom: verify that Advanced Capture with Window Filtering is enabled
Run through this once before every important interview. Familiarity with the layout and muscle memory on the shortcuts means you won't hesitate when it counts.
