This category grew up Mac-first. Demos are recorded on macOS, screenshots show a dock, and documentation talks about Activity Monitor and the menu bar. If you're on Windows, a lot of the marketing is describing a machine you don't have.
Some of these tools do ship a real Windows build. Here's which, and what's genuinely different on Windows.
What changes on Windows
The surfaces are the same idea with different names, and a couple behave differently enough to matter.
Task Manager, not Activity Monitor. Same job. Worth knowing that Task Manager's default view shows apps grouped by window, while the Details tab shows every process — so "invisible in Task Manager" is a claim worth checking on both tabs.
The taskbar and system tray, not the dock and menu bar. The tray is the one people forget. An icon tucked behind the "show hidden icons" arrow is still there if someone expands it.
WinKey+Tab and Alt+Tab. Windows has two switchers, and Task View (WinKey+Tab) shows more than Alt+Tab does, including virtual desktops. Check both.
Virtual desktops are not a hiding place. Putting something on desktop 2 feels private. Task View shows every desktop, and switching between them is a visible transition.
Screen sharing behaves the same way. Window-share sends one window's contents; full-screen sends the whole display. That's platform-independent. What screen sharing actually captures covers it in full.
Notification behaviour differs. Focus Assist is Windows' equivalent of Do Not Disturb, and it's off by default. Turn it on before every interview — Windows toasts are large and land bottom-right, right where a shared screen is most likely to be looked at.
Which tools actually run on Windows

Velin AI — native Windows and macOS
A real desktop app for both platforms, not a Mac app with a Windows port. Hidden at the OS level: absent from the taskbar and Task Manager, click-through, never becomes the active window. In the process list it appears as V Module, which reads like a system component rather than an AI tool.
Both modes work identically on Windows — live mode for spoken rounds, capture mode for reading problems off the screen. Control by keyboard, undetectable clicks, or custom mouse gestures.
$34/month, $228/year, or $324 once.
Interview Coder 2.0 — Windows and Mac
Explicitly offers "Get for Windows" alongside the Mac build. Strong undetectability specifics — invisible in dock and Activity Monitor (their macOS phrasing), click-through, invisible to screen sharing and system tray. Covers HackerRank, CoderPad and Codility.
The catch: $299/month or $799 lifetime, several times anything else here.
Final Round AI — Windows and macOS
Desktop app on both. The broadest feature set of anything on this list: AI mock interviews with scoring, resume builder, post-interview reports, 26+ languages, plus live assistance. From $25/month, which is cheaper than Velin.
The catch: invisibility is described by outcome — "nothing the interviewer can see" — with no mention of Task Manager, the taskbar or process naming. If that's what you're buying for, there's less to verify.
InterviewMan — Windows and Mac, plus browser
Desktop apps for both platforms and browser access. $30/month or $144/year, which is $12/month effective — the cheapest real option here. Unlimited minutes and session duration, invisible in dock and Activity Monitor, widest named platform coverage including Lark/Feishu.
The catch: part of the stealth uses a two-device mode, so some of it depends on a second device. And they claim the product "has never been detected," which no vendor can support.
LockedIn AI — Windows, Mac, mobile and browsers
The widest reach of anything here: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and four browsers, plus VSCode and Cursor integration and HireVue support. Publishes a 116ms average response time, faster than Velin's stated 120ms.
The catch: no published pricing — tier names only, so you learn the cost during signup.
Two that don't fit a Windows-first list. Interview Solver is a desktop app but its site doesn't clearly state Windows support, so verify before buying. Parakeet AI is browser-first — it runs on Windows in the sense that any website does, which is a different proposition and a more visible one in a monitored environment.

Feature Spotlight: The Windows check that takes two minutes
Whichever you choose, verify on your own machine: open Task Manager and check both the Processes tab and the Details tab. Press WinKey+Tab as well as Alt+Tab. Expand the hidden system tray icons. Then start a Teams or Zoom meeting with yourself, share your entire screen, record it, and watch it back. Repeat after every Windows update.

If you want prep tooling as well: Final Round AI from $25/month — mock interviews and resume building that none of the others offer.
If you need mobile or editor integration too: LockedIn AI, accepting that you'll sign up before seeing a price.
If you want invisibility documented in Windows terms and verifiable in Task Manager: Velin AI at $34/month, or $324 once. It's the one that names the surfaces rather than describing the outcome, and gesture control means you're not issuing keyboard events on platforms that log them.
